Pure Fiction But We Wish It Was Real: B is for Banshee

Pure Fiction But We Wish It Was Real: B is for Banshee

When Avatar came out in 2003, did you see it in the theater? Were you mesmerized by the animal and fauna in the film?

If not, don’t worry, a lot of people weren’t impressed with James Cameron’s world at first. After bonding with the horses and failing at riding all we want is for Jake to succeed.

Then something happened half way through the film that changed everything. The main character, Jake, learns  a true hunter and member of the tribe needed to ride on a Ikran or the Banshee. The flying creatures come in a variety of brilliant colors and temperaments.

“Now you choose your Ikran.”

“This you must feel inside. If he also chooses you move quick like I showed. You will have one chance, Jake.”

“How will I know if he chooses me?”

“He will try to kill you.”

“Outstanding.”

– Avatar

This moment in the movie was imprinted on my mind as one of the best of all moments. The concept of a bond between an animal and it’s rider has always been one of my favorites.

If you could bond with an animal which would you choose?

  1. “He will try to kill you.” Yowzers. Not sure I would want that kind of bond! hahaha!

If I could bond with an animal, it would be a horse. I admire their strength and beauty, but I’m intimidated by them, and always nervous when I ride one. If I could truly bond and feel completely safe knowing the horse would never buck me off or harm me, I would love that!!

  2. that is a very good question, and one which I don’t right now have the answer to, but one that I know I’m going to be thinking about for quite a while…sheesh. Enjoying your posts.

    1. I had the same problem with Gravity. The only thing I remember about it was being sick afterward. Some movies don’t need to be 3D or Imax. *sigh*

    1. Good choice! If I’m confined to Earth and the animals we have, I’m partial to the oceans too. In that case, dolphins would be my choice. But it would be cool to speak whale like Dory 🙂

  3. I love this movie! Having a great link with an animal is found in many stories like Narnia, North Kingdoms, Eragon, even Game of Thrones. A big animal would be great 😉
